PARADISO WINS GOLDParadiso Terrestre Olive Oil is produced in South Australia utilising
the most modern techniques and matching the best trees to the soil, rainfall
and climate. The olives are hand picked at precisely the optimum time
and transformed to the highest-grade olive oil the same day at a modern
cooperative mill using state of the art equipment under quality controls. This oil is subtler than many oils, with a pleasant fruity aroma and flavour. It is also exceptionally clean and light on the palate. Paradiso Terrestre oil is the result of cold pressing of freshly picked olives from a mix of Frantoio and Leccino olive trees, which come to us from the famous Tuscany region of Italy. The Free Fatty Acid has been independently tested at time of bottling.* The result of these tests, and the flavours will vary from one harvest to the next (as does good wine), but Paradiso Terrestre Extra Virgin Olive Oil will always produce the highest quality results. The 2002 harvest tested at 0.18% Free Fatty Acid. (See Background section for explanation on Free Fatty Acid tests and their relevance.) In 2004 the Paradiso Terrestre "Premium" oil was awarded a Gold Medal in its class at the 8th Annual Olives South Australia Olive Oil Competition, after recording a significantly low Free Fatty Acid content of 0.07%, and a low Phenol value of 87 (this is a measure of bitterness and pungency), indicating the mild full flavoured nature of this oil. The Judges stated "...intense lifted tropical fruit aromas. Sweet green melon flavours and hints of tomato. Good length of flavour on finish. An excellent late harvest oil." Serve straight from the bottle as a bread dipper. It is ideal over fish or salads, or wherever a more subtle olive flavour is preferred. Also a great addition to your favourite boiled and steamed vegetables, sprinkle over before serving. This versatile oil is produced from naturally farmed olives, without the use of chemicals, at our One Tree Hill Estate in South Australia, a gateway to the famous wine-growing region in the Barossa Valley. We can guarantee its freshness and quality because we grow, harvest, produce and bottle under the strictest conditions, and due to our commitment to quality, only small quantities of oil are produced. * Tested by University of South Australia (Nov 2002).
